When putting a program out on the radio there are specific rules and regulations to make sure that the content being distributed is appropriate for all ages. Similar to TV broadcasting this prohibits certain actions/ types of content during times when children are particularly likely to be listening. These times are listed as 06:00 - 09:00 and 15:00 - 19:00 on weekdays during termtime and 06:00 - 19:00 on weekends and weekdays during holidays.
When it comes to offensive language the two most rules are listed as follows.
Rule 1.14 “The most offensive language must not be broadcast…when children are particularly likely to be listening”.
Rule 1.16 “Offensive language must not be broadcast…when children are particularly likely to be listening, unless it is justified by the context”.
